IVP Designs and Artisty
All of the classes that ive taught and am teaching
I first started teaching at Diana Stelin Art Studio in Brookline from 2023 to 2024. I helped host birthday parties for young children and guided them in creating themed artwork based on a specific subject for each event.
During 2024, I volunteered at School Is Cool daycare, where I taught art to young children. Together, we explored different forms of art like painting and drawing. We often worked from our imaginations, which helped the kids expand their creativity, and we also had thoughtful conversations about our artwork. Sometimes we used photo references that the kids chose as a group to inspire our pieces.
While I was painting and drawing with the children, we had meaningful conversations about what we wanted to express through our art and how we could tell stories using our creativity.
During this year, I also started expanding my business, which is when I began teaching art as part of it. While working at the Brookline Senior Center, I did oil pastel projects with the elders, focusing on both still life and artwork from reference images.
While working with the residents, we had thoughtful conversations about their artwork. I make it a priority to check in with each person individually, ask them what they want to express through their art, and build a personalized routine with them so they feel supported while keeping their work original and true to themselves.
In our classes, I would usually start with a demonstration to show the art technique we were going to focus on. Then I would go around and make sure everyone understood the process and felt confident. As we continued working, I stayed available to help and guide each person individually.
I continued my teaching journey at Temple Beth Zion, where I worked with kids in late elementary and early middle school.
We focused on creating art inspired by Jewish culture, including scenes from the Exodus like Moses crossing the sea. I shared insight from what I knew about the story, and from there we used reference images to create our own interpretations based on our understanding.
I also returned to volunteering, this time at my old school, Heath School. While there, I worked with students from middle to late elementary school.
We worked on a variety of projects, like creating gratitude cards. The kids would draw things they were thankful for, and I helped them brainstorm ideas and bring their thoughts to life through art. The goal was to help them appreciate the good things in their lives.
Another project we did was making Mother’s Day cards. I wanted to help kids express love and appreciation for their moms or other important people in their lives. We focused on creating kind, thoughtful messages to go inside the cards.
This year, I also started running my very own art class from my home. I held the class in my basement for some family friends and their friends, and it felt like a huge step in my journey as both an artist and teacher.
In this class, we mainly focused on large landscape paintings based on photos the students picked. I guided them step-by-step on how to make their artwork realistic while still adding their own personal touch.
I also continued working with elders at Brown 2Life Elderly Service Housing. While there, we made oil pastel artworks and had ongoing conversations about places we’d like to travel to, since most of the pieces were based on scenic travel spots and personal dreams.
